Monaghan Harps Lotto: The numbers for last Sunday's draw were 2, 7, 21 and 28. Jackpot of €3,300 not won. The four €40 lucky-dip prize winners were: Bernie McGinnity c/o Rose Hughes; Lucy Kelly c/o Séamus Treanor; Chris O'Connell c/o Paddy Donnelly; and Lailah McKenna c/o Maria McKenna. The sellers' prize of €20 was won by Eileen McElvaney. Jackpot for Sunday, February 28 is €3,400. The club is asking members willing and financially able to contribute through our lotto towards club maintenance and running expenses. This can be done by two options: set up a standing order to our club lotto via quarterly or annual payments or using our new club app by downloading 'ClubZap' on your phone, registering as a Monaghan Harps GAA Club member and buying club lotto in bulk or on a weekly basis. Thanks to everyone for their continued support for our lotto, which plays an integral part for the club. Zoom meeting: Our monthly club meeting takes place via Zoom tomorrow night (Wednesday, February 24 at 8.30. Contact Nicola for Zoom meeting details. Log in from 8.15. Please keep mics muted during the meeting.



Coaching: Due to the ongoing Covid-19 restrictions, Monaghan GAA Coaching & Games, in conjunction with county player Dessie Ward, have devised an online Athletic Development Programme for 12- to 17-year-olds. The purpose of this initiative is to assist these players improve their physical fitness and health & wellbeing by being active and taking part. There are also sessions for U-11s and younger age groups available via the Monaghan GAA YouTube channel. The Monaghan senior ladies ran various online activities for mid-term all last week. Thanks to everyone involved.

 

Registration: Registration fees for 2021 can now be paid via ClubZap. When you open the app, select 'my club' and 'membership' to pay your membership in seconds. Fees are as follows: U-11s €20; juveniles/seniors €30; family membership €60. You can also renew your membership by contacting club registrar Kevin Treanor or treasurer Rose Donnelly. Please note that all juvenile and adult players must be paid-up members. With fundraising remaining limited, your support is greatly appreciated during these times.

 

Every Step Counts: As we approach the home straight of the GAA/Irish Life Every Step Counts challenge, we are close to four times the 4,000 km target. Clubs who reach the target of walking a combined total of 4,000 km by March 3 – the equivalent of walking around the coastline of Ireland – will be entered into a draw to win O'Neill's vouchers to the value of €2500, €1500 or €1000. Well done to the many club members taking part so far and we encourage everyone to keep up the good work and stay active within the guidelines. To take part, download the My Life app, register your details, tap on the social tab within the app and select your club. Family and friends can join in too.

 

Sympathy: Our town lost a popular figure last week with the sudden and untimely passing of Gwen Moffett. We offer sincere sympathy to her family and friends.

 

Cumann Cláirsigh Mhuineacháin – Here To Help: We continue to be aware of the disruption caused by Covid-19, particularly to the elderly and vulnerable members of our community. The health and wellbeing of all our community is extremely important to us in Monaghan Harps GAA‏. National Club Draw: The 2021 National Club Draw has been postponed until June to enable clubs to sell tickets when public health restrictions are lifted. We will arrange distribution of tickets at a later date. Please hold on to the tickets given out to date. For anyone who has already sold a book of tickets, please drop them into the letterbox at our clubhouse and contact Rose Donnelly.

 

Siamsa Challenge: Monaghan Scór are launching The Acorn Life sponsored 'Farney Siamsa Challenge'. With Seachtain na Gaeilge from March 1 to 17, the Coiste would like to challenge all clubs and everyone in the community to get involved in some way. Videos will be restricted to one household, respecting the Government guidelines on Covid. Households can take part in one or all of the following: Song as Gaeilge no as Béarla; Tune; Comhrá (can be a good-news story as Gaeilge or a seanfhocail); Recitation; Dance; Local Heritage (Landmarks, Cures, Superstitions, Traditions in the Family, down memory lane etc.). Videos and recordings are to be max of two minutes of duration and must be submitted by the Club Secretary or Cultural Officer. In the next few days, I will send out some guides for recording. 

 

Club Leadership Development: There are still some online events remaining in the Club Leadership Development Programme for which club officers can register. See learning.gaa.ie for more details.

 

Club app: As well as offering an option to support our lotto, our new club app also has a function to pay your annual membership, make financial donations to the club, as well as a communication suite for all that goes on at the club. You can get involved by downloading 'ClubZap' on your phone and registering as a Monaghan Harps GAA Club member.  

 

Hurling:

Online Fundraiser: We are launching our online raffles series with a bumper raffle. A 50" TV (1st Prize); A Fitbit Versa smart watch (2nd Prize); A Google Home Speaker (3rd prize). Tickets are just €10, with the funds raised making a massive contribution to the development of our club. The raffle will be held on Sunday, April 11.
