RIP: Cumann Cláirsigh Mhuineacháin CLG would like to express our sincere sympathy to the family of Kieran Brennan, father of former player Marc and current juvenile players Finn and Shay. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam. We will form a guard of honour for Kieran on Saturday, meeting in Old Cross Square at 12.15pm.

Upcoming club events: We will be hosting a championship preview night in the Hillgrove Hotel on Saturday, April 9, where we look forward to welcoming some high-profile guests. The likes of Seán Boylan, Seán Cavanagh, Aaron Kernan, Dick Clerkin, Owen Lennon, Malachy O'Rourke and David Brady will be looking ahead to the inter-county championship season along with our own Shane Hannon in what promises to be a great night. Our juvenile presentation night will take place on April 12. Please try to keep these dates free and support these club events! Keep an eye on club notes and social media for more details.

Reserves: We host Donaghmoyne in the RFL Division 1A this Saturday at 5.30pm. All support welcome for our first home game of 2022.

U-19: Our U-19s started their campaign with a hard-earned win away to Cremartin last Saturday. Goals by James Curley and Shay Cooney got our lads off to a strong start, but Cremartin responded strongly with the wind at their backs. Points from Daragh Croarkin, Luke McManus and Cian Bradley sent us in level at half-time (2-4 to 1-7), before Jake Power found the top corner of the net early in the second half. Shay, Luke and Cian all added to their tallies in the final quarter as our lads held off Cremartin's challenge to win by 3-10 to 1-10. As Clones have withdrawn, our next U-19 game is against Truagh on April 17.

Team and scorers: Daragh Croarkin (Capt., 0-1); Jordan Crampton, Kevin Moran, Shane Moran; Gary Devlin, Nathan Lavery, Mark McManus; Jake McConnon, Tiarnán O'Rourke; Shea Swift, Liam Conway, James Curley (1-0); Luke McManus (0-4), Shay Cooney (1-2, 0-2f), Cian Bradley (0-3).

Subs used: Senan Cudden; Jake Power (1-0); Ali Galligan.

Colleges: Congratulations to Jason Allister, Oisín Reilly, Fionán Ó Gallchóir, Ethan McCaffrey and the Coláiste Oiriall team who won the Ulster Schools' Ward Cup Final last Wednesday.

U-13: Our U-13 teams are due to begin their Spring League campaign with away games against Truagh and Inniskeen on Wednesday. Please check online to confirm fixtures.

Awards: Well done to our Club Treasurer Rose Donnelly, who was our deserving nominee at the Monaghan GAA Volunteer Recognition & Appreciation Night last Wednesday. Thanks for all your ongoing efforts on behalf of every sector of our club. Congratulations also to Conor Flynn and Ciarán McQuaid, whose 2021 Club Hurling All-Stars were presented on the night.

St. Patrick's Day: Our juveniles enjoyed participating in the first Monaghan Town St. Patrick's Day parade since 2019 last week. A great crowd then returned to the clubhouse to enjoy great traditional Irish music by Monaghan Comhaltas CCÉ. Thanks to everyone who helped out in any way on what was a great club day.

Saturday-morning coaching: Our U-9, U-7 and nursery groups will be starting back training on Saturday week, April 2 at 10am.

Scór: As part of Seachtain na Gaeilge, we had a great day on St. Patrick's Day in the Harps clubhouse playing music. Thanks to Monaghan Comhaltas CCÉ branch and Orla Corrigan for organising it. Go raibh mile maith agaibh. We had another brilliant day on Saturday at the Ulster Scór na nÓg semi-finals in Bessbrook. All three entries got through to represent our club and county in the Ulster finals on Saturday week, April 2. Bualadh bos to Dearbhla Ní Mhearáin (solo singing); Oisín Ó Raghallaigh, Fionán Ó Gallchóir and Mark Ó Cleirchín (music group); and Aoibhinn Ní Chraoibhinn, Hannah Nic Uaid, Amy Nic Domhnaill, Caoimhe Ní Néill and Dearbhla Ní Mhearáin (singing group). GRMMA to Niamh Coyle and Aoife McCabe for all your help.

Coaching: We are asking new coaches to get involved at juvenile level, particularly with our youngest groups on Saturday mornings, which is set to resume on April 2. This is the perfect place to start coaching and now is an ideal time of year to begin to learn/upskill. Monaghan GAA Coaching and Games have organised another series of workshops for the next few weeks. If you are interested in getting involved, please contact Pádraig Callan on 087 2543511 or callanpadraig@yahoo.ie.
