Seniors: We saw out Group Two of the Greenfield Foods Senior Football Championship with a home win over Castleblayney last Sunday. A strong start saw Shane Smyth, Dónal and Liam Hahessy, Neil McAdam, Dylan McKenna and Michael Galligan all get on the scoresheet to give us an early lead. Dean Doherty and Dónal both found the net to make it 2-10 to 0-6 by half-time, while Dónal, Shane and Dean Fanning added points during the second half. Scores were harder earned as the game went on, but our lads had done enough to claim a first win of the group on a scoreline of 2-13 to 0-11.

Team and scorers: Conor Callan; Conn O'Hanlon, Aodhán Óg McAnespie (Capt.), Kevin Loughran; Nicholas Scott, Conor Galligan, David Lowry; Neil McAdam (0-1), Dylan McKenna (0-1); Dean Doherty (1-0), Dónal Hahessy (1-3, 0-1f), Thomas Croarkin; Michael Galligan (0-2f), Shane Smyth (0-2, 1m), Liam Hahessy (0-3).

Subs: Tiarnán O'Rourke for Croarkin, Shane McMahon for M Galligan (both H-T); Kevin Moran for C Galligan (46); Dean Fanning (0-1) for Smyth (50); Lochlainn Power for McKenna (51).

We now enter a second group stage along with Castleblayney, Magheracloone and Carrickmacross. Our next game is away to Carrickmacross this Sunday at 12.30pm. All support welcome.

Minors: Our U-17s fell just short away to Scotstown in the Maguire International Transport Minor Football Championship semi-finals last Saturday. A disappointing first half, during which our only point came from Seán Callan, left us chasing a big deficit after Scotstown netted a penalty just before the break. Our lads showed their now customary spirit to dig their way back into the game after the restart, with a string of points from Luke McManus, Senan Cudden and Cian Bradley chipping away at the gap, before a well-worked move saw Fionán Ó Gallchóir fire to the net and level it up. Luke edged us ahead, but Scotstown replied to force it to extra-time. Seán, Senan and Ethan McCaffrey all kicked points during extra-time, but a second Scotstown goal proved decisive as they advanced to the Division One Final on a scoreline of 2-12 to 1-13. Well done to our minors for their efforts throughout this year, which saw them contest league and championship semi-finals.

Team and scorers: Oisín Reilly; Mark Clerkin, Jake McConnon, Shane Moran; Jordan Crampton, Shea Swift, Gary Devlin (Capt.); Seán Callan (0-3), Senan Cudden (0-2); Luke McManus (0-6, 4f), Josh Kelly, Cian Bradley (0-1); Fionán Ó Gallchóir (1-0), Michael McMorrow, Eoin O'Hanlon.

Subs used: Jack Lynch; Max Aughey; Ethan McCaffrey (0-1); Oisín Treanor.
