COVID-19 Guidelines: Following the GAA announcement on Monday, all club games have been suspended until further notice. Thanks to our coaches, players, volunteers and Covid supervisors for their efforts throughout the return to play. We advise our club members to continue to take care and follow the health guidelines. Please keep an eye on our social media accounts for further updates.

Seniors: Congratulations to six of our players (Aodhán Óg McAnespie, Kevin Loughran, Brendan Óg Ó Dufaigh, Neil McAdam, Conor Galligan and Éimhín Morahan) on being selected on the Monaghan GAA IFC All-Star team for 2020!

U-15: Our U-15 Division One team won their rescheduled Shield Final in a thrilling clash with Clones in Aghabog last Saturday. The teams were evenly matched throughout this game, where goals by Fionán Ó Gallchóir and Ethan McCaffrey and points from Eoin O'Hanlon, Fionán, Ali Galligan and Cian Bradley left our lads ahead by 2-4 to 2-3 at half-time. The momentum continued to swing throughout the second half, with both sides threatening goals on numerous occasions. With Jack Lynch hitting 1-2 and Fionán doubling his tally to 2-2 and Oisín Treanor and Cian Bradley adding points, our lads had enough firepower to hold off a determined challenge from Clones and win by the narrowest of margins on a scoreline of 4-9 to 5-5. Goalkeeper Oisín Reilly and defenders Diarmuid McGinnity, Dáire Conlon, Max Aughey, Shane Moran and Mark Clerkin battled hard to keep a dangerous Clones attack at bay, led by captain Seán Callan, who was a magnet for the ball in the closing stages. Senan Cudden and Eoin also handled a lot of ball in the middle third, while all six starting forwards got on the scoresheet and Kyle Cooney and John McCrystal worked hard after their introduction.

Team and scorers: Oisín Reilly; Diarmuid McGinnity, Dáire Conlon, Max Aughey; Shane Moran, Seán Callan (Capt.), Mark Clerkin; Eoin O'Hanlon (0-1), Senan Cudden; Ethan McCaffrey (1-0), Oisín Treanor (0-1), Jack Lynch (1-2, 0-1f); Fionán Ó Gallchóir (2-2, 0-1f), Ali Galligan (0-1), Cian Bradley (0-2).

Subs used: Kyle Cooney, John McCrystal.

The Division Five Shield Final v Truagh was played in very difficult conditions in Emyvale on Sunday. Scores were very hard earned during the first half, with points by Oisín Reilly and John McCrystal leaving the Harps trailing by 0-4 to 0-2 at the change of ends after playing into the wind. Points by John, Dónal Moran and the lively Eoin Sheridan kept our lads in touch during a frustrating third quarter, before we got a breakthrough when a long-range effort from Rhys McCaffrey found its way into the net. Truagh responded strongly to regain the lead late on until a Jack Kierans equaliser forced extra-time (1-7 to 0-10). The Harps managed to get the only two scores of extra-time, with a brace from Eoin Sheridan and some strong defending earning our lads a 1-9 to 0-10 win. From keeper Oisín McGeown through to Max Mallen, Fergal Magee, Kyle Cooney, Ethan McCaffrey, Julian Coyle, Diarmuid McGinnity, Max Aughey and captain Ali Galligan, our lads worked hard throughout to keep a valuable clean sheet. James Gunn, John and Dónal showed well to provide for the inside line of Jack, Oisín Reilly and Rohann, while the U-13 trio of Eoin, Shea Corrigan and Rhys McCaffrey all added to the team effort.

Team and scorers: Oisín McGeown; Max Mallen, Ali Galligan (Capt.), Fergal Magee; Kyle Cooney, Ethan McCaffrey, Julian Coyle; Diarmuid McGinnity, Max Aughey; James Gunn, John McCrystal (0-2, 1f), Dónal Moran (0-1); Jack Kierans (0-1), Oisín Reilly (0-1), Rohann McKenna-Malocca.

Subs used: Eoin Sheridan (0-4), Shea Corrigan, Rhys McCaffrey (1-0).

Management: Brian Lenehan, Mel McMorrow, Adrian Gunn, Brendan Burns, Fintan Grimes, Dermot Coyle.

Fielding two teams on consecutive days and winning a pair of competitive encounters is a great credit to the players and their management, so well done to all involved with our U-15s.

Reserves: We earned our first win of the O'Duffy Cup on a 2-10 to 1-10 scoreline away to Donaghmoyne last Saturday.

Team: Dylan McAree; Rory Sleator, Aidan Burns, Jamie Shields; Niall Greenan, Conn O'Hanlon (Capt.), Oisín Fagan; Dylan McKenna, Shane McMahon; Michael Galligan, Éimhín Morahan, Francis Lynch; Conor McCrystal, Evan Doherty, Eoghan McGinnity.

Subs: David Lowry for Sleator, Terence McDonald for Doherty.

A youthful side started brightly in Sunday's McKeown Cup game at home to Toome, but we eventually lost out by 0-18 to 0-13 despite a spirited performance.

Team and scorers: Dylan McAree; Andrew Lyden, Killian Conlon, Conor Devlin; Jamie Shields, David Lowry, Rory Sleator (0-1); Evan Doherty, Niall Greenan (Capt., 0-2); Seán Conway, Eoghan McGinnity (0-5, 2f), Adam McGarry; Nathan O'Donoghue (0-2), Luke Coyle (0-2f), Terence McDonald (0-1).

Unfortunately, Monday's announcement from Croke Park has called a halt to the reserve competitions for the second time this year. Thanks to Peter Coyle, Michael Buckley, Neil McAdam and Nicholas Scott for their efforts to date.

Club app: As well as offering an option to support our lotto, our new club app also has a function to pay your annual membership, make financial donations to the club, as well as a communication suite for all that goes on at the club. You can get involved by downloading 'ClubZap' on your phone and registering as a Monaghan Harps GAA Club member.

Hurling:

Seniors: Our seniors played Latton on Sunday in the Mick Hannon DHL. The lads made a slow start in what were very poor weather conditions- an early goal for Latton giving them a good start. We gradually got a foothold in the game with some great fielding from Seán Conway setting up scores for Conor O'Neill and Alan Lee. Dylan McAree also made his presence felt at full-forward with two points in the first half. We struck a hammer blow when Aidan Burns made a strong run from midfield, going past several Latton defenders before sending a low shot to the net. We found ourselves three points ahead at half-time and with some changes giving us more energy in the forward line, Shane Smyth and Nathan O'Donoghue soon got themselves on the scoresheet. Further scores from Cathal Power, Shane Smyth and Aidan Burns gave us a strong lead that we would not relinquish. Strong displays all round; nominees for MOTM included Seán Conway, Aidan Burns and Dermot McMahon. Final score: 1-14 to 1-4.

COVID-19 Guidelines: Following the GAA announcement on Monday, all club games have been suspended until further notice and we advise all of our club members to read the guidelines published. Please keep an eye on our social media accounts for further updates.
