IFC: We signed off on Group Two of the McElvaney Recycling Intermediate Football Championship with a home win over Emyvale last Sunday. Neil McAdam, Michael Galligan, Kevin Loughran, Fionán Ó Gallchóir and Luke McManus kicked a point each in the first half to keep us in touch at 0-5 to 0-6. Goals from Kevin Loughran and Fionán moved us ahead during the third quarter and while Emyvale got one back, Dean Doherty netted our third, before some last-ditch defending closed out a 3-10 to 1-14 win. We will now face Emyvale, Blackhill and Clones in the battle to retain Intermediate status. Our next game is away to Emyvale on Saturday week, September 28.

Minors: Hard luck to our minor Division Four team, who fell just short in their championship semi-final at home to Scotstown last Saturday. John Sherry, Shane McGarry, Daniel Alexis and Kyle Cooney were on target during the first half, which ended with Scotstown leading by 3-4 to 1-5. Kyle and Daniel hit the net to keep our lads well in contention as the game built towards an exciting finish, with James Gunn and Shay Lambe also adding scores, but Scotstown held on to progress on a scoreline of 4-10 to 3-11.

U-14: Congratulations to our U-14 Division 5A team, who signed off on their season with a championship final win over Scotstown in Threemilehouse last Sunday. An excellent team performance saw our lads lead throughout the game, with first-half goals from Callum McCullagh and Daimhin Brett helping to build up a 2-4 to 0-2 lead. Callum and Daimhin both found the net again during the second half, while Conall McGinnity doubled his tally to six points and Matthew Duffy ventured forward to seal the win with a late goal.

While Conall, Callum and Daimhin did the bulk of the scoring, this was a real team effort, built from a disciplined defence, where Tom Neeson, Matthew Duffy, Jamie Sheridan, Finn McGee and Ryan Lynch were well marshalled by team captain Odhrán Mac Cinna, who made a couple of great saves to keep a clean sheet. Daimhin, Moustapha Mbaye, Evan McGarry, Finn Brennan and Bobby O'Brien worked tirelessly to provide the service to Conall and Callum.

Well done to Brian Lenehan and all the coaches involved this year with all three of our U-14 teams.
