Club notes (January 12, 2022)

No

Pitch: Our main pitch is closed for repairs and essential maintenance. We ask that everyone stays off the main pitch until further notice and we appreciate the co-operation of all club members. The training pitch can be used by club members. Thanks to our ground-development committee and regular helpers for keeping our facilities in great condition.

Every Step Counts: Our Healthy Club Officer Úna Forde has registered the club for the GAA/Irish Life Every Step Counts challenge for a second year. The 'Every Step Counts Challenge' will now begin on January 19 and runs until February 16. Clubs who reach the target of walking a combined total of 4,000 km in that time – the equivalent of walking around the coastline of Ireland – will be entered into a draw to win O'Neill's vouchers. To take part, download the My Life app, register your details, tap on the social tab within the app, enter Every Step Counts (Ulster) and select Monaghan Harps.

Get well soon: Wishing Hugh Coyle a speedy recovery after his recent fall from all your friends at the Harps. Hugh is currently recuperating in Cavan Hospital after surgery in Dublin.

Monaghan Harps Lotto: The numbers for last Sunday's draw were 3, 18, 20 and 24. Jackpot of €1,100 not won. The four €40 lucky-dip prize winners were: Dermot Coyle (direct debit) c/o Owen Connell; Noel Hennessy c/o himself; Rita McNally c/o Séamus Treanor; and Neill McGinn c/o himself. The sellers' prize of €20 was won by Séamus Treanor. Jackpot for Sunday, January 16 is €1,200. Thanks to everyone for their continued support for our lotto, which plays an integral part for the club. Please note that the cut-off point for ClubZap each week is 6pm on Sunday.

Urgent: Ground-development works need to start ASAP as grant funding expires soon. Matching finance is needed from the club. Please support our lotto frequently. Become a regular lotto player by buying weekly or setting up a recurring entry on ClubZap or direct debit or contact Rose Donnelly 086 0825782. Your support is greatly appreciated.

Registration: Registration fees for 2022 can now be paid via Foireann.ie (use your log-in details from last year's return-to-play questionnaires). When you open the app, select 'my club' and 'membership' to pay your membership in seconds. Fees are as follows: juveniles €30; senior citizens €30; adults €50; family membership €90. You can also renew your membership by contacting club registrar Kevin Treanor or treasurer Rose Donnelly. Please note that all juvenile and adult players must be paid-up members. With fundraising opportunities remaining limited, your support is greatly appreciated.

Coaching: Monaghan Coaching and Games will be delivering a number of Foundation and Award 1 Coaching courses for Football and Hurling in early 2022. See the Monaghan GAA website for more details.

Ógie jerseys: Thanks to everyone involved in taking orders and distributing our limited-edition Ógie jerseys. Particular thanks must go to Rose Donnelly for her diligence in organising orders and collections.

Apartment in Lanzarote: The closing date is approaching for the Monaghan GAA development draw with a first prize of a Holiday Home in Lanzarote. The club has received some tickets from the county board, costing €75 each, and they can be purchased by contacting Rose Donnelly.

Club app: As well as offering an option to support our lotto, our new club app also has a function to pay your annual membership, make financial donations to the club, as well as a communication suite for all that goes on at the club. You can get involved by downloading 'ClubZap' on your phone and registering as a Monaghan Harps GAA Club member.
