Brian Toal RIP: Cumann Cláirsigh Mhuineacháin are saddened by the news that Brian Toal has passed away. A former club player, Brian joined our juvenile coaching set-up in recent years and many of the youngsters he coached were among a large turnout at his Funeral Mass on Tuesday. We express our most sincere sympathies to Brian's family; his wife Denise, son Ethan, daughters Haydn and Lia and his extended family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this extremely difficult time. Suaimhneas síoraí dó.

Annual Juvenile street collection: This Friday and Saturday, June 23 and 24, the club has our annual fundraising collection for our juveniles. We will need approx. 40 volunteers spread across the two days to cover all the various collection locations. Two-hour time slots will run from 9.30am to 5.30pm on both days. This is a huge opportunity for the club to raise funds for the juveniles, so the more volunteers we have the better. Alison Clerkin (087 6528927), Úna Forde (087 6107329) and Sharon McCaffrey (083 1035737) are the key points of contact; for those of you available to volunteer, please contact any of them directly to secure your preferred time slot. Thanks in advance for your support.

IFL: We played out a draw in last Friday's Intermediate Football League game at home to Toome. An Evan Doherty and points from Michael Galligan, Shane McMahon and Neil McAdam kept us in touch in a topsy-turvy first half that ended with Toome leading by 2-4 to 1-6, but we faced an uphill task when falling seven points down inside the final quarter. Goals by Jake McConnon and Evan kept us in the hunt, however, before Michael kicked a late equaliser to level it up at 3-10 apiece.

Team and scorers: Daragh Croarkin; Gary Devlin, Thomas Croarkin, Jake McConnon (1-0); Kevin Moran, Aodhán Óg McAnespie (Capt.), David Lowry; Dylan McKenna, Tiarnán O'Rourke; Dean Doherty, Lochlainn Power, Shane McMahon (0-2, 1f); Neil McAdam (0-1f); Evan Doherty (2-2), Michael Galligan (0-5, 4f).

Sub used: Conor Devlin.

Our next game is away to Cremartin next Friday, June 30.

County: Best of luck to Adrian, Ethan, Jack, Mark, John, Shea and the Monaghan minor footballers in Saturday's All-Ireland MFC semi-final v Kerry in Tullamore, which will be followed by the SFC game v Kildare. Please note the double-header is all-ticket. Good luck also to Kevin Loughran, Emma Clerkin and the county senior teams this weekend.

Scór: Well done to our Spraoi Scór representatives last week in Castleblayney and Clontibret, including our two teams in the Tráth na gCeist, where the club finished second. We would like to say go raibh maith agaibh to Niamh Coyle, Rossa Gilsenan and Leah Reilly for all their hard work.

Reserves: Our reserve teams had another busy week, starting with a trip to Killanny in Division 3B on Sunday. A team featuring a couple of debutants and some returning players competed well in the first half, trailing by just two points at the break, but despite Oisín Reilly netting a second goal, Killanny pushed on after the restart to win by 0-19 to 2-7.

Team and scorers: Michael Buckley; Jordan Crampton, Mark Clerkin, Gregory O'Connell; Séadh Deeney, Conor Devlin, Max Mallen; Mark McManus (0-1), Michael McDonnell; Adam McGarry, Ali Galligan (0-1), Colm Shalvey (Capt., 0-1f); John Mulligan; Corey McArdle (0-1), Oisín Reilly (2-1).

Subs: Jack Brogan; Shay Cooney (0-2f).

Our rescheduled Division 1A game in Latton took place on Tuesday evening, with torrential downpours and thunder and lightning occasionally threatening another postponement. A Dylan McKenna goal had us a point up at half-time (1-5 to 0-7), but we could only manage frees from Conor Callan and Dónal Hahessy in the second half as Latton finished stronger to secure the win.

Team and scorers: Conor Callan (0-1f); Conor Devlin, Jake McConnon, Oisín Fagan; Mark Clerkin, Gary Devlin, Max Mallen; Dylan McKenna (Capt., 1-1), Shane McMahon (0-1f); Terence McDonald, Dónal Hahessy (0-3, 2f), Liam Conway; Colm Shalvey, Evan Doherty (0-1), Eoin O'Hanlon.

Subs: Gregory O'Connell; Ali Galligan; Mark McManus; Adam McGarry; James Keelaghan; Shane Moran.

We are away again tomorrow night (Friday) in Division 1A against Magheracloone.

U-17: Well done to our minor Division Four team, who began their league campaign by edging a narrow win in an exciting game away to Truagh on Monday evening. The Division One league is due to get underway next Tuesday. Please check online to confirm fixtures.

U-15: Our U-15s are set to return from the exam break with a home game against Truagh this evening (Thursday) at 7.30pm.

U-13: Our U-13 Division One team went top of the Shield round-robin with a fine win at home to Castleblayney on a wet Tuesday evening. Good luck to the Division Five lads in next Wednesday's semi-final away to Magheracloone.

Sun Safety: Crocus Monaghan kindly loaned us their sunscreen stand last Saturday morning, when we educated the kids and coaches on the importance of sunscreen and how to protect yourself from sunburn and skin damage and to prevent skin cancer. Thanks as always to Crocus.

Saturday-morning coaching: Our juvenile Gaelic football coaching for 4-9-year-olds has continues each Saturday morning from 10-11am. Thanks to everyone involved.
