Monaghan Harps Lotto: The numbers for last Sunday's draw were 6, 16, 17 and 29. Jackpot of €1,100 not won. The four €40 lucky-dip prize winners were: Aideen McEnaney c/o Paudge Connolly; Dympna Cudden c/o Ann Treanor; Monica Connolly c/o Paudge Connolly; and Conn O'Hanlon (direct debit) c/o senior footballers. The sellers' prize of €20 was won by Eileen Morgan. Jackpot for Sunday, June 13 is €1,200. The club is asking members willing and financially able to contribute through our lotto towards club maintenance and running expenses. This can be done by two options: set up a standing order to our club lotto via quarterly or annual payments or using our new club app by downloading 'ClubZap' on your phone, registering as a Monaghan Harps GAA Club member and buying club lotto in bulk or on a weekly basis. Anyone interested can contact either Rose Donnelly (086 0825782); Maria McKenna (086 1057725) or Adrian Dalton (087 7859582). Thanks to everyone for their continued support for our lotto, which plays an integral part for the club. Please note that the cut-off point for ClubZap each week is 6pm on Sunday, while physical tickets should be with the lotto committee by 9pm.

7s tournament: Over the past three weeks, our senior footballers have run off a seven-a-side tournament. Sunday saw the last round of matches and finals take place. Well done to all the lads who took part over the three weeks and thanks to the management for facilitating this competition, which featured teams named in honour of a handful of late, great club stalwarts. Foireann Brendan McCann finished in fifth place, while the 3rd/4th place play-off saw John Mulholland's team, captained by Kevin Loughran, see off strong opposition in Patsy Kierans' team. The showpiece of the day saw Peter McNelis' team, captained by Ado McAnespie, see off Tom Cuddy's team, led by Nicholas Scott, in another close game. All games were competitive and allowed the lads to show off their skills, some fantastic link-up play and a bit of ingenuity. There were many close games with alleged dubious decisions and accusations of inaccurate timekeeping. All in all, a normal day at the Harps. Thank you to Jim McConnon/Londis for sponsorship of the tournament. Kevin Moran took home the Mickey 'Rock' Treanor Player of the Tournament award and the winning Peter McNelis team were presented with the McArdle Cup by Séamus Treanor. This cup was previously won by Monaghan Harps in 1922 and 1923, so it was nice to see it back in use. Thanks to Harps referees Hugh McKenna and Paul McGeown who made themselves available over the past three weeks and to Jimmy Croarkin and Paul who were in charge of the whistles on Sunday.

Minors: Our U-17s got the 2021 season underway with an exciting Division One league opener against Magheracloone in Annaghminnon on Monday evening. We started brightly with early points from Fionán Ó Gallchóir, Luke McManus and Oisín Treanor and although Magheracloone rallied to take a narrow lead at the first water break, an impressive run of scores in the second quarter, with Oisín Treanor, Seán Callan, Cian Bradley and Shea Swift all on target, had us ahead by 0-9 to 1-4 at half-time. Magheracloone regained the lead with a second goal straight after the restart, but despite shipping a series of blows in a difficult third quarter, our lads put in a spirited finish, with Fionán getting the last touch of a goalmouth scramble, before Seán hit the roof of the net with a powerful shot late on. Luke closed the gap to two points in added time, but Magheracloone held on to win by 2-12 to 2-10. We host Killanny next Monday evening at 7.30.

Team and scorers: Oisín Reilly; Gregory O'Connell, Jake McConnon, Dáire Conlon; Jordan Crampton, Gary Devlin, Shane Moran; Senan Cudden, Shea Swift (0-1); Fionán Ó Gallchóir (1-1), Luke McManus (0-2, 1f), Oisín Treanor (0-4); Seán Callan (1-1, 1-0f); Ali Galligan, Cian Bradley (0-1).

Seniors: Our seniors have their first competitive match of the year on Thursday evening. The first round of the Mick Hannon Development Hurling League sees us take on Truagh. This is a home fixture for the Harps with throw-in at 8pm. Best of luck to the squad and management team!

Malin2Mizen- Cycle for Roger: Ciaran McQuaid, current senior player, and his cycling team are setting out on a charity cycle to raise funds for the Irish Cancer Society. Roger McQuaid was a passionate supporter of the hurling club and he always motivated Ciaran and Brendan to push themselves on the field. He was also a dedicated volunteer to the Monaghan Harps Ladies Club. The Irish Cancer Society provided great support to the McQuaid family during their father's battle with cancer and we are asking for anyone who can to make some form of donation to the fundraiser. You can follow Ciaran's training regime on Instagram and find the link for donating at 'Malin2Mizen - Cycle for Roger'.
