Upcoming club events: The next date for your diary for a big club event is our Golf Classic on June 10. Before that, we host a table quiz organised by our Hurling Club on Friday.

DIL: We hosted over 1,000 participants for the 2022 Darkness Into Light Monaghan Town in the early hours of last Saturday morning. Thanks to all club members who supported in any way in this worthy fundraiser for mental-health charity Pieta. Well done to the organising committee, led once again by Seán McKenna, for another excellent event.

Seniors: We fell to a narrow defeat against Magheracloone in the Intermediate Football League at Inniskeen last Saturday. A team showing six changes from the opening round included a debut for Shea Swift and a first start for Luke McManus. A very slow start saw us conceded two early goals that left us chasing the game, but a spirited comeback brought us into contention, with points by Neil McAdam, Michael Galligan and Éimhín Morahan closing the gap to the minimum (2-3 to 0-8) by half-time. Neil, Michael and Éimhín added to their tallies in the second half, while Conor McCrystal and Luke McManus also kicked points, but Magheracloone stayed ahead in the end on a scoreline of 2-12 to 0-15.

We host Emyvale on Saturday week (May 21).

Team and scorers: Daragh Croarkin; Jake McConnon, Aodhán Óg McAnespie (Capt.), Thomas Croarkin; Gary Devlin, Neil McAdam (0-2), Nathan Lavery; Lochlainn Power, Tiarnán O'Rourke; Conor McCrystal (0-1), Kevin Loughran, Shea Swift; Michael Galligan (0-6, 4f), Éimhín Morahan (0-5, 4f), Luke McManus (0-1).

Subs: Shane McMahon for Lavery; Dean Doherty for Swift; Gary White for Galligan.

Reserves: We lost at home to Scotstown in the RFL Division 1A last Wednesday. With Daragh Croarkin converting a series of long-range efforts and Lochlainn Power, Shea Swift, Conor McCrystal and Luke McManus also on target, we traded scores with the visitors for two-thirds of this game, but a brace of goals sent Scotstown on their way to a 2-13 to 0-10 win.

Team and scorers: Daragh Croarkin (0-5, 3 '45s, 2f); Jamie Shields, Jake McConnon, Conor Duffy; Oisín Fagan, Gary White, Gary Devlin; Lochlainn Power (0-1), Kevin Moran; Shea Swift (0-1), Niall Hahessy, Niall Greenan (Capt.); Dean Doherty; Conor McCrystal (0-2f), Luke McManus (0-1).

Subs used: Evan Doherty; Michael McMorrow; Jordan Crampton; Colm Shalvey.

County: Well done to the Monaghan minors on their win over Down in Newry last weekend. Good luck to Seán Callan, Jack Lynch, Oisín Reilly and everyone involved in Saturday's Ulster MFC game v Donegal in Clones. Please note that all upcoming inter-county championship games are all-ticket. There will be no cash sales at the venues.

Minor: We continued the U-17 Spring League with an away game against Emyvale last night (Wednesday). Our U-17 League Division 3B campaign begins with a home game against Emyvale this Sunday at 11am.

U-15: Our U-15 Division One team came from behind to win at home to Carrickmacross last Thursday. Carrick led for long spells of a good contest, but scores by John Paul Ginley, Mark Lynch, Kyle Lavery and Eoin Sheridan kept our lads in touch at 2-3 to 2-4 at half-time. Mark, John Paul and Eoin added goals early in the second half, while Shane McGarry added his name to the scoresheet. It remained nip and tuck until the final few minutes, when a brace of points by Orrin Doherty and a goal by Josh Cassidy saw the Harps secure a hard-earned win by 6-7 to 3-9.

Team and scorers: Alex Flynn; John Sherry, Dáire McKenna, Conor Farmer; Orrin Doherty (0-2), Rhys McCaffrey, Adam Richardson; Shea Corrigan, Mark Lynch (2-1, 0-1f); Joe Gunn, Josh Cassidy (1-0), Kyle Lavery (0-1); Eoin Sheridan (1-1), John Paul Ginley (2-1), Shane McGarry (0-1).

Subs used: Daniel Aughey; Oisín Brannigan; Deagan Doherty.

U-13: Our U-13 teams begin their league campaigns this Saturday with a double-header away to Inniskeen: Division Two at 11am, Division Five at 12.15.

U-11: Our U-11s played away to Clontibret this Saturday. Their next games are against Inniskeen on Saturday week (May 21).
